Graphing Calculator 3D Polar Equations

This page explains how to plot a polar equation in Graphing Calculator 3D.

Steps:

  1. Select "2D" from the graph dropdown list.
  2. Change the coordinates option from "Cartesian" to "Polar" in the dropdown list.
  3. Type in a polar equation using variables r and θ.
    • To insert θ press Ctrl+1
    • Alternatively, click on KeyPad tab then click on θ button.

Examples:

Here are some explicit and implicit polar equations you can type in the program:

  • r=2θ+1
  • θ=r/2
  • r^2+θ^2=sin(r+θ)
  • r<1+θ

Optional Steps:

  • Click on "Graph" tab then click on "Override Default Range" to limit the range of r and θ values.
